Where it came from
King of Prism -Shiny Seven Stars- was produced by Tatsunoko Production and released in 2019 as a television series, serving as the third installment in the popular King of Prism franchise. The series was designed to expand upon the high-energy, performance-focused narrative established in the preceding films, focusing on the individual development and competitive struggles of the Prism Star candidates within the Edel Rose training academy.
The animation style, overseen by director Masakazu Hishida, maintains the franchise's signature blend of surreal musical sequences, flamboyant character designs, and intense emotional stakes. It was received by fans as a vibrant continuation of the series' camp-aesthetic, prioritizing character-driven arcs and thematic explorations of friendship and self-discovery within the competitive entertainment world.
