Has the intrepid Inspector Zenigata bitten the final bullet?
In the chaos following Lupin’s heist of a Buddha avatar statuette, Inspector Zenigata is mortally wounded in pursuit of the master thief. But Lupin’s not to blame; the maniacal supervillain Morgana intervened, swiping the Buddha figure, and sending “Pops” to his fate. Morgana is after the ancient power of the Fuma called Fujin, with the beautiful ninja Asuka also racing to find the secret to Fujin, but Fujiko Mine keeps reaching her hand into the pie and causing even more complications. What is Fujin, and who will wield its secret power?

Where it came from
Released in 2010 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Lupin the 3rd manga series, The Last Job serves as the twentieth entry in the long-running series of television specials produced by TMS Entertainment. The project was conceived as a high-stakes adventure that would honor the legacy of the franchise while testing the boundaries of the character's traditional heist-based narratives, placing Lupin in a darker, more philosophical conflict involving a mysterious organization and a former partner.
The animation direction was led by veteran staff who sought to balance the classic charm of the 1970s aesthetic with the updated production values of the 21st century. The special was notably the final production to feature the original voice cast for several core characters, marking a significant transition period for the studio. Upon its release, it was received as a poignant, if somber, milestone that leaned heavily into the enduring tension between Lupin’s chaotic freedom and the encroaching reality of time.
