Based on the popular RPG game from KLab. In the Wahrheit Empire, humanity’s spirit remains fragmented from a disaster in the past where many lives were lost to bloodthirsty monsters who were once summoned. But the fate of the capital is about to drastically change when shy transport worker Inumael and naive Empire soldier Leocadio get caught up in a smuggling incident.

Where it came from
Magatsu Wahrheit, released in 2020 by Yokohama Animation Lab, was conceived as a multi-media project rooted in the lore of the mobile RPG developed by KLab. The series was designed to bridge the gap between the game's immersive world and a serialized narrative, focusing on the existential dread of a world on the brink of apocalypse due to the resurgence of monstrous entities known as the Light of Ruin.
The production utilized a distinct visual aesthetic intended to reflect the high-fantasy, grim-dark tone of the original game source material. Under the direction of Naoto Hosoda, the series sought to balance character-driven drama with the complex political and supernatural machinations inherent in the Wahrheit setting. While the project aimed to provide a comprehensive look at the world’s history, it received a polarized reception, with many critics focusing on how it navigated the challenges of adapting game-centric mechanics into a coherent television structure.
