Six years ago, a massive explosion occurred in the town of Ouma, but miraculously, there were no fatalities.
In this town, where a mysterious sphere called "Glass Sun" floats in the sky, a boy named Kagari Mera, who feels out of place and lives a boring life, meets a mysterious girl named Thirteen on his 16th birthday.
His encounter with her brings vibrant color to Mera's previously monochrome life, but at the same time, strange occurrences begin to happen in the town.

Where it came from
Mera×Death: Shinigami to Boku no Ijou na Koi was produced by Studio Qzil.la and released as a television series in 2027. The project emerged during a period of experimentation within the studio, which sought to blend conventional supernatural romance tropes with a darker, more psychological tone to differentiate the series from its contemporaries in the genre.
The series centers on the thematic interplay between life, death, and the volatile nature of affection. While specific directorial credit remains part of the studio's collaborative house style during this timeframe, the design language was heavily influenced by a desire to contrast ethereal, otherworldly character motifs with grounded, stark urban settings. Upon release, the show received a measured reception, noted primarily for its distinct visual aesthetic rather than its narrative departure from standard shinigami-themed fiction.
