Osomatsu-san: Tamashii no Takoyaki Party to Densetsu no Otomari-kai

Osomatsu-san: Tamashii no Takoyaki Party to Densetsu no Otomari-kai was released in 2023 as a feature-length installment in the long-running revival of the classic Fujio Akatsuka manga series. Produced by Studio Pierrot, the film serves as a continuation of the irreverent and chaotic comedic style established by the 2015 television adaptation, which famously reimagined the sextuplets as adult neets living together in perpetual dysfunction.

The film was designed to lean into the franchise's signature blend of low-stakes slice-of-life storytelling and surreal, often self-deprecating humor. By focusing on a takoyaki party and a sleepover, the creative team sought to highlight the codependent and often grating interpersonal dynamics between the brothers. The reception among fans was positive, largely because it maintained the established characterizations that define the modern iterations of the Matsuno family while providing a theatrical scope for their characteristic brand of absurdity.
