Summer Pockets: Across the Seven Seas

Summer Pockets: Across the Seven Seas is a 2025 animated feature film produced by Key, serving as a cinematic adaptation of the visual novel Summer Pockets. This project emerged from the enduring popularity of the original 2018 game, which garnered critical acclaim for its poignant narrative centered on a protagonist who visits a remote island during summer vacation. The film adaptation was conceived to expand upon the emotional depth and scenic, nostalgic atmosphere of the source material, bringing the island setting of Torishirojima to life on the big screen.

The visual direction for the film maintains the artistic legacy established by Key's long-standing collaboration with illustrators Na-Ga and F-Sena, whose character designs are hallmarks of the franchise. By transitioning the visual novel's branching narratives into a cohesive cinematic experience, the production team sought to preserve the melancholy and wonder associated with the summer theme. Upon its release, the film was received by the fanbase as a significant milestone in the studio’s history, marking a shift toward more prominent theatrical representation for their intellectual properties.
