Three years into her life as a shut-in, vampire Terakomari Gandesblood (Komari for short), awakens to find she’s been appointed as a Commander in the Mulnite Imperial Army! The thing is, her new unit consists solely of belligerent ruffians who revolt against their superiors at the slightest hint of weakness. Although Komari hails from a line of vampires as powerful as they are prestigious, her refusal to drink blood has made her the picture of mediocrity—scrawny, un-coordinated, and inept at magic. With the odds stacked against her, will the help of her trusty (and slightly infatuated) maid Vill be enough for this recluse to blunder her way to success? Or will Komari rue the day she ever left the safety of her room?

Where it came from
The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess originated as a light novel series written by Kotei Kobayashi and illustrated by Riichu. The story explores the life of Terakomari Gandesblood, a vampire who prefers seclusion over the violence required of her kind. Its adaptation into a television series was produced by the studio project No.9, which aimed to translate the series' blend of comedic supernatural elements and high-fantasy intrigue into an animated format, focusing on the protagonist's struggle to manage her growing responsibilities.
The anime series debuted in 2023 under the direction of Tatsuma Minamikawa. The production sought to maintain the lighthearted tone of the source material while emphasizing the character dynamics within the Mulnite Empire. Critics and viewers generally noted the show for its character-driven humor and the distinct aesthetic of the vampire aristocracy, positioning it within the subgenre of fantasy comedies that prioritize character growth amidst absurd circumstances.
