British Warship Recognition : The Perkins Identification Albums : Volume II

The Perkins Identification Albums represent a monumental archival project originally compiled by Richard Perkins during the mid-twentieth century. Serving as a dedicated maritime researcher, Perkins spent decades meticulously documenting British naval vessels through an exhaustive collection of photographs and technical notes. This specific volume, part of a high-quality republication effort by Pen & Sword Books, preserves his primary source material for naval historians and enthusiasts who value the granular detail of ship configurations and identification markers.

The design of the volume focuses on functional clarity, prioritizing archival-grade reproductions of Perkins's original layouts. The work is widely regarded in maritime circles as a definitive reference, capturing the evolution of the Royal Navy during a period of rapid technological transition. By bringing these private, hand-annotated albums into the public domain, the publishers intended to provide a permanent, accessible record of ship recognition features that would otherwise be lost to the passage of time and the fragility of original personal collections.
