Entwicklungsgeschichte der Lehre von der Person Christi

Isaak August Dorner published the first edition of Entwicklungsgeschichte der Lehre von der Person Christi, or History of the Development of the Doctrine of the Person of Christ, in 1839. Emerging from the German Protestant theological tradition of the early 19th century, the work was conceived as a rigorous, historical-critical examination of Christology. Dorner intended to reconcile historical development with systematic theology, moving away from static dogma toward an evolutionary understanding of how the church has articulated the nature of Christ over centuries.
