Princess in disguise

Princess in Disguise was published in 2015 as the third installment in E.D. Baker’s popular Tales of the Frog Princess series. The book continues the narrative arc following Princess Emeralda, a character originally introduced in 2002, who defies traditional fairy tale tropes by choosing her own path rather than adhering to royal expectations. This series emerged during a period of increased interest in fractured fairy tales, where authors sought to subvert classic tropes with humor and modern sensibilities.

The design and tone of the series reflect Baker’s signature approach to children's fantasy literature, which focuses on accessibility and lighthearted adventure. Published by Bloomsbury, the edition features cover art consistent with the series' branding, designed to appeal to middle-grade readers who enjoy stories about self-discovery and magic. It was received by its audience as a continuation of a reliable and beloved series that maintains a consistent, warm voice throughout the various adventures of Emeralda and her companions.
