Where it came from
Released in 1993 on the Polydor label, 'Dornröschen - Die Wahrheit!' is a single by the German band Leinemann. The group, which originated in the early 1970s, was widely recognized for their blend of country, rock, and comedic German-language lyrics. This specific release leaned into the band's penchant for irreverent storytelling, framing a satirical take on the classic Sleeping Beauty fairy tale through a cabaret-style musical lens.
The production reflects the band's long-standing effort to merge traditional German Schlager elements with a humorous, folk-inspired performance style. While Leinemann achieved their greatest mainstream recognition in the 1970s, this 1990s release represents their later period of work, focusing on character-driven comedy songs that were typical of their stage repertoire. It remains a minor, curious entry in the band’s extensive discography, documenting their ongoing commitment to theatrical musical comedy.
