Where it came from
Released in 2009 by the boutique label Secretum Records, this recording features the organist Jan Vermeire performing on the historic Jacobus Van Eynde organ. The instrument, originally constructed in 1716 and located in the Saint-Martin church in Ledegem, Belgium, is a significant example of early 18th-century organ building. This album serves as both a musical recital and a technical documentation of the instrument's specific tonal characteristics and the acoustic environment of the church.
The production was intended to showcase the specific restoration and sonic profile of the Van Eynde instrument, reflecting Vermeire's commitment to historically informed performance practices. By focusing on the 1716 provenance of the organ, the album caters to enthusiasts of Baroque-era keyboard music and organology. It is regarded by collectors in this niche field as a high-fidelity reference point for the preservation of Flemish organ music.
