Schwanensee • Dornröschen • Nussknacker

This 1992 Decca release compiles Tchaikovsky’s three major ballet scores—Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and The Nutcracker—into a comprehensive orchestral set. Issued during a period when Decca was actively remastering and repackaging its vast back catalog for the digital compact disc era, this collection utilizes high-fidelity recordings that showcase the label’s signature 'Full Frequency Range Recording' engineering approach, which became a hallmark of their classical output throughout the twentieth century.

The selection highlights the enduring appeal of Tchaikovsky’s melodic mastery, intended to offer listeners a definitive gateway into the Russian Romantic repertoire. The design aesthetic follows the clean, professional standards of Decca’s mid-nineties classical series, prioritizing readability and archival clarity. The release was well received by critics and general audiences alike, valued for providing a unified, high-quality audio experience of these essential theatrical works in a convenient, multi-disc format.
