Where it came from
The 2012 self-titled CD by the artist Taylor Taylor stands as a quintessential artifact of the early 2010s independent music scene. Produced and distributed without the backing of a traditional record label, this release reflects the era's democratization of music production, where artists increasingly relied on home recording technology and direct-to-fan distribution methods to share their work outside the established industry gatekeepers.
The design of the album emphasizes a minimalist aesthetic, consistent with the artist's focus on personal songwriting and intimate performance. As an independently released project, it was intended to serve as a compact portfolio for the artist's evolving sound during this period. While the release did not receive widespread commercial distribution or mainstream critical analysis, it remains a documented entry in the catalog of self-released singer-songwriter projects from that time.
