Where it came from
Released in 2013 on the Vivid Sound label, Taylormaid represents a focused project by Rosemarie Taylor during a period when the label was actively curating a catalog of singer-songwriter acoustic works. The album was produced to highlight Taylor’s intimate vocal delivery and her specific approach to songcraft, positioning the record within the mid-2010s resurgence of independent folk and adult contemporary production.
The design of the physical CD reflects the minimalist aesthetic favored by Vivid Sound at the time, prioritizing clean typography and evocative cover photography to mirror the contemplative tone of the music. While the album serves as a niche entry in the independent circuit, it was received by listeners as a consistent, character-driven work that stays true to the songwriter-led traditions of the label’s broader artistic mission.
