Taylormade

Taylormade serves as a definitive showcase for Tasha Taylor, an artist deeply rooted in a storied musical lineage as the daughter of blues legend Johnnie Taylor. Released independently in 2011, the album represents a deliberate effort to blend classic soul and rhythm and blues sensibilities with a contemporary edge. By opting for a self-released format, Taylor maintained creative autonomy, allowing the record to function as a highly personal exploration of her stylistic range and vocal power.

The album's design and sonic direction prioritize a raw, authentic connection to the listener, stripping away the polish often associated with major label production to highlight the nuances of Taylor’s songwriting. Critics and fans of the blues and soul circuit have often pointed to this release as a pivotal moment in her career, noting that it successfully bridges the gap between her family's rich legacy and her own identity as a modern performer. It is regarded as a hallmark of her mid-career output, emphasizing vocal clarity and instrumental tight-knit arrangements.
