Taylormade

Taylormade serves as a definitive showcase of Tasha Taylor’s heritage as the daughter of blues legend Johnnie Taylor. Released independently in 2010, the album functions as a modern synthesis of blues, soul, and R&B traditions. It was crafted during a period when Taylor sought to establish her own distinct musical identity, bridging the gap between the classic Stax-era sound she grew up around and a contemporary, polished production style.

The album’s design and sonic direction prioritize vocal clarity and soulful instrumentation, reflecting Taylor’s goal to honor her family legacy while maintaining a forward-looking artistic perspective. By self-releasing the project, she maintained full creative control over the arrangements and the emotional tone of the tracks. The record was received by listeners as a heartfelt tribute to her roots, solidifying her reputation as a formidable singer-songwriter capable of delivering authentic, grit-filled soul.
