Where it came from
Released in 2020 by Omnivore Recordings, this collection compiles the first two studio albums by Adam Wade, And Then Came Adam and Adam and Evening, originally issued in 1961 on the Coed label. These albums captured Wade at the peak of his commercial popularity, showcasing a polished vocal style that helped him become the first Black male singer to have ten hit singles on the Billboard pop charts during the early 1960s.
The remastering project was designed to preserve the orchestral pop arrangements characteristic of the era, emphasizing Wade's smooth baritone and the sophisticated, romantic balladry that defined his tenure with Coed Records. The collection received favorable attention from music historians and fans of mid-century pop for bringing these long out-of-print sessions to a contemporary audience, effectively documenting a significant transitional moment in American pop music.
