Where it came from
The 2017 Andorran 2 Euro commemorative coin was minted to mark the 25th anniversary of the Andorran Constitution. Adopted in 1993, this constitution transformed Andorra from a feudal remnant into a parliamentary co-principality, formalizing its status as a sovereign state and its integration into the international community.
The design of the coin features an artistic interpretation of the Andorran national anthem, with the title 'Himne Andorrà' and the dates 1993-2018 inscribed across the surface. The aesthetic focuses on the thematic importance of national identity and sovereignty, characteristic of the modest annual commemorative issues produced by the small nation for both local circulation and the collector market.
