Where it came from
The Andorran 2 Euro commemorative coin issued in 2019 marks the hosting of the Alpine Ski World Cup Finals in the Principality of Andorra. This release celebrates the country's significance as a premier winter sports destination and its successful bid to host the final stages of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, an event that brought international attention to the slopes of Soldeu and El Tarter.
The design of the coin features an intricate depiction of a skier in motion, framed by graphic elements representing the rugged, mountainous landscape of the Pyrenees. Crafted with a focus on the dynamism and precision inherent in alpine racing, the coin was issued by the Andorran government to serve as a lasting memento for both numismatists and sports enthusiasts, marking a milestone in the nation's sporting history.
