Where it came from
This commemorative 2-euro coin was issued by the Principality of Andorra in 2023 to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the nation's admission to the United Nations. Andorra officially joined the international body on July 28, 1993, a pivotal moment that solidified the small Pyrenean state's sovereignty and its integration into the global diplomatic community following the adoption of its new constitution that same year.
The design of the coin features a stylistic representation of the United Nations emblem alongside the year of entry and the anniversary year. As with all Andorran commemorative coinage, the design reflects the country's desire to highlight its constitutional transition and its commitment to international cooperation. The issue was intended primarily for numismatic collectors and as a commemorative marker of Andorra's modern parliamentary democracy.
