Where it came from
The 2015 Australian 20-cent coin featuring the Remembrance Day design was minted by the Royal Australian Mint to commemorate the centenary of the Anzac landing at Gallipoli. This circulating commemorative release serves as a tribute to those who have served in conflicts, marking a century of remembrance for the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps during the First World War.
The coin's reverse design was created by Royal Australian Mint designer Aleksandra Stokic. It features an artistic interpretation of the Flanders poppy, an enduring symbol of remembrance, intertwined with the text 'Lest We Forget'. The obverse carries Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, consistent with Australian coinage standards of the era. The design was received as a respectful and accessible way to bring national history into everyday commerce.
