30 Dollars - Elizabeth II (Bison)

The 2021 Canadian 30 Dollars Bison coin was issued by the Royal Canadian Mint as part of an ongoing commitment to celebrating Canada's iconic wildlife. This piece was struck in pure silver, reflecting a shift in the mint's design strategy toward higher-denomination, specialized collector coins that emphasize intricate textures and high-relief finishes to capture the rugged aesthetic of the North American plains.

The design features the American bison, a symbol of resilience in the Canadian wilderness, rendered with artistic precision to highlight the animal's physical power and dense fur. The coin was produced for the numismatic market to appeal to collectors of fauna-themed precious metals, and it was received as a technically impressive example of modern minting capabilities, standing out for its balanced composition and detailed portraiture of a species central to the history of the Great Plains.
