50 Euros (Alfred Adler)

The 2018 Austrian 50 Euro coin, issued by the Austrian Mint, is part of the 'Psychological Schools of Austria' series, which honors the profound contributions of Austrian intellectuals to the field of psychology. This specific piece commemorates Alfred Adler, the influential founder of individual psychology and a key figure in the early psychoanalytic movement. The coin serves as both a currency piece and a tribute to Adler’s focus on the individual’s role within their social community and his theory of the inferiority complex.

The design of the coin features a portrait of Adler on the obverse, captured with a blend of classic numismatic detail and modern artistic interpretation. The reverse side typically incorporates symbolic elements representing the human psyche and the social structures Adler analyzed during his career. As with other coins in the Austrian series, it was struck in high-quality gold, reflecting the mint's tradition of precision craftsmanship and its commitment to documenting Austria’s cultural and intellectual legacy for collectors and historians alike.
