Where it came from
The 50 Euro coin commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of Andorra was issued in 2018. The Andorran Constitution, signed in 1993, marked a pivotal transition for the microstate, formalizing its status as a sovereign parliamentary democracy while retaining the unique tradition of its dual co-princes, the Bishop of Urgell and the President of France.
The coin design highlights the significance of the 1993 constitutional framework, featuring iconography intended to reflect the nation's legal foundations and sovereign identity. As a non-member of the Eurozone that maintains an agreement to use the currency, Andorra produces commemorative coins periodically to mark major national milestones. These issues are produced in limited quantities primarily for collectors and enthusiasts of European numismatics.
