Before the Fantastic Four: The Storms #1

Before the Fantastic Four: The Storms #1 was published by Marvel Comics in 2000 as part of a three-part miniseries designed to flesh out the backstories of the Fantastic Four. This particular installment focuses on the childhood and formative years of siblings Susan and Johnny Storm, providing narrative context for their lives before the cosmic accident that granted them their powers. The series was developed during a period when Marvel was exploring the origins of its flagship characters to deepen reader engagement with their established histories.

The book was written by Glen Greenberg with interior art by Jorge Santamaría. The creative team aimed to ground the fantastical nature of the quartet in a relatable, mid-century domestic setting, emphasizing the sibling dynamic that would later become a cornerstone of their team identity. While it served as a successful expansion for longtime fans of the Fantastic Four franchise, it is regarded primarily as a supplementary piece intended to bridge the gap between contemporary storytelling and the early history of Marvel's First Family.
