Comic X-Eros #114

Comic X-Eros, published by Eros Comix—an imprint of Fantagraphics Books—emerged during the 1990s as a notable platform for adult-oriented comics. Issue #114 belongs to a long-running anthology series that provided a space for underground and alternative artists to explore erotic narratives, often prioritizing stylistic diversity and subverting mainstream comic tropes. The series served as a hallmark of the independent publishing boom, bridging the gap between underground comix traditions and more polished erotic storytelling.

The aesthetic of X-Eros was defined by the diverse roster of contributors Fantagraphics recruited, often featuring artists who had previously established themselves in the alternative scene. By the time the series reached its later numbers, such as issue #114, it had solidified a reputation for prioritizing artistic vision and narrative experimentation over conventional titillation. These issues were designed for an adult readership that valued the autonomy of independent creators, resulting in a varied visual landscape that ranged from minimalist sketches to detailed, stylized illustrations.
