Comic X-Eros #113

Comic X-Eros, published by Eros Comix during the 1990s and early 2000s, served as a prominent anthology series within the adult underground comics market. The line was established by Fantagraphics Books to provide a dedicated space for erotica, often featuring established alternative cartoonists experimenting with transgressive themes. The publication history reflected the broader independent comics movement of the era, which sought to challenge mainstream taboos while maintaining a specific aesthetic rooted in the underground comix tradition of the 1960s and 70s.

The visual design of individual issues like number 113 typically featured high-contrast, bold line work characteristic of the erotic underground style, prioritizing the individual stylistic quirks of the contributing artists over a unified house look. These issues were designed for a niche audience of adult collectors and were generally distributed through specialized comic shops and direct mail, positioning them as counter-cultural artifacts within the mature-readership comics landscape.
