Where it came from
Comic X-Eros, published by Eros Comix during the 1990s and early 2000s, served as a prominent anthology series within the adult underground comics market. The publication emerged during a period of significant growth for alternative comics, providing a dedicated platform for creators to explore erotic themes and narrative experimentation that remained largely absent from mainstream comic book publishers of the time.
The artistic direction of the series relied heavily on the work of veteran underground contributors who utilized the anthology format to showcase diverse illustrative styles ranging from satirical realism to more abstract, stylized eroticism. Issue 117 reflects the series' commitment to showcasing a rotation of creators, with the design and visual tone intended to cater to collectors of adult-oriented counterculture literature rather than traditional comic book audiences.
