Comic X-Eros #124

Comic X-Eros was a long-running anthology series published by Eros Comix, an imprint of Fantagraphics Books established in the early 1990s. The series was designed to feature an eclectic mix of erotica, underground comics, and adult-oriented storytelling, serving as a platform for artists to explore mature themes outside the constraints of mainstream comic publishers. Issue 124 arrived during a period when the imprint was solidified as a primary destination for alternative erotic graphic narratives, blending transgressive art styles with the subversive sensibilities that defined much of the Fantagraphics catalog.

The aesthetic of the series consistently prioritized the individual voice of its contributors, reflecting the ethos of its parent publisher which championed creator-owned work. While the series often featured revolving rosters of underground illustrators, the design language was characteristically raw and intentionally provocative. The reception of these issues was largely confined to specialized comic shops and adult boutique markets, where they were viewed as significant contributions to the medium’s expansion into adult content rather than mere pulp entertainment.
