Ketteiban, Kamui-Den Zenshū: Daiichibu #11

Ketteiban, Kamui-Den Zenshū: Daiichibu represents a definitive collection of the legendary gekiga manga Kamui-Den, originally serialized by Sanpei Shirato in the 1960s. This specific edition was produced to preserve the complex narrative of the series for modern readers, maintaining the gritty, sociopolitical focus on the struggle of the outcasts of the Edo period. The work is widely regarded as a watershed moment in Japanese comics for its unflinching look at feudal hierarchy and resistance.

The series is celebrated for Shirato's meticulous attention to historical detail and his dynamic, ink-heavy artistic style. By the time the Ketteiban re-release began, the series had already cemented its status as a foundational piece of gekiga, a genre defined by its mature themes and literary ambition. This particular volume continues the sweeping epic of the titular character, Kamui, navigating a world of constant surveillance and betrayal, reflecting the author's own philosophical interests in dialectical materialism.
