Ketteiban, Kamui-Den Zenshū: Daiichibu #14

Ketteiban, Kamui-Den Zenshū: Daiichibu #14 is part of a definitive, large-format reissue series of Sanpei Shirato’s seminal gekiga work, Kamui-Den. Originally serialized in the groundbreaking manga magazine Garo starting in 1964, the series is widely regarded as a pillar of Japanese alternative comics, blending complex social commentary on the rigid class structures of the Edo period with intense martial arts action and historical realism.

The Ketteiban reissue was designed to provide a high-quality, permanent archival edition of Shirato's sprawling epic, featuring clean printing that emphasizes his stark, cinematic black-and-white ink work. As a series, Kamui-Den is celebrated for its deep philosophical underpinnings and its influence on later generations of mangaka, with this specific collection serving as a vital reference for students of mid-century Japanese storytelling and the evolution of the gekiga movement.
