My Home Hero #20

My Home Hero, written by Naoki Yamakawa and illustrated by Masashi Asaki, first began serialization in Weekly Young Magazine in 2017. The series follows Tetsuo Tosu, an unassuming salaryman who becomes entangled in a dangerous criminal underworld after taking drastic measures to protect his daughter. Volume 20 serves as a pivotal installment in the latter half of this suspense-thriller, maintaining the series' reputation for intense psychological tension and moral ambiguity.

The narrative and aesthetic direction of the series is defined by the contrast between Tetsuo’s domestic life and the cold reality of organized crime. Masashi Asaki’s art style, characterized by detailed, high-contrast panels, effectively captures the escalating desperation of the protagonist. Upon its release, this volume was received by fans as a critical turning point in the long-standing conflict between the Tosu family and the criminal syndicate, praised for its tight pacing and the consistent evolution of the characters' survival strategies.
