Oltretomba #26

Oltretomba was a long-running Italian fumetti neri series published by Edizioni ErreGì beginning in the early 1970s. This series, much like its contemporary Diabolik or Kriminal, tapped into the popular Italian fascination with gothic horror, suspense, and the macabre. The publication emerged during a period when the 'fumetti neri' genre was at its height, characterized by pocket-sized issues featuring dark, often transgressive themes designed for adult readers seeking atmospheric escapism.

Issue number 26 follows the established editorial aesthetic of the series, which focused on serialized, haunting narratives often illustrated with high-contrast, moody black-and-white artwork. While individual issues were rarely credited to a single creator, the series relied on a stable of anonymous artists who excelled in conveying tension and dread within the restrictive format of the 'libretto' size. It remains a notable artifact of 1970s Italian pulp culture, collected today for its distinct cover art and its place within the wider history of European horror comics.
