Oltretomba #32

Oltretomba was a long-running Italian horror comic series published by Edifumetto during the 1970s and 1980s. Emerging during the height of the 'fumetti neri' (dark comics) craze, the series functioned as an anthology of macabre, erotic, and gothic tales. Issue number 32 fits within the publisher’s established format of pocket-sized, black-and-white publications intended for adult readers, which utilized sensationalist cover art to compete on newsstands alongside similar titles like Terror and Vampirissimo.

The aesthetic of Oltretomba was defined by a mix of pulpy storytelling and evocative, often lurid illustrations that drew from Italian horror cinema tropes of the era. While individual creative credits were frequently obscured by house pseudonyms or collective studio efforts typical of Edifumetto's production style, the series was overseen by Renzo Barbieri and Giorgio Cavedon. It was received as a quintessential example of the low-brow counterculture publishing of the period, serving as a staple for fans of exploitation-style genre fiction rather than mainstream comic critique.
