Oltretomba Speciaal #6

Oltretomba Speciaal was a series of Italian fumetti neri, or dark comics, published during the 1970s by Edizioni ErreGi. These publications were part of a broader trend of mature, horror-themed pocket-sized comics that gained immense popularity in Italy during that era, often pushing boundaries with graphic violence and eroticism. The 'Speciaal' line served as a companion to the core Oltretomba titles, often repackaging stories or providing themed anthologies that catered to a dedicated underground readership fascinated by the macabre.

The aesthetic of Oltretomba was defined by a stark, low-budget noir style that emphasized atmospheric tension and bold ink work. Like many titles in the ErreGi stable, the series relied on a rotating team of illustrators working under strict deadlines to feed the insatiable demand of the newsstand market. While the specific creative team for individual issues of the Speciaal run was often uncredited or used pseudonyms, the series as a whole is historically regarded as a prime example of the transient, counter-cultural pulp medium that flourished in pre-digital Italy.
