Oltretomba Speciaal #65

Oltretomba Speciaal was a long-running Italian horror comic series published by Edifumetto during the 1970s and 1980s. Emerging from the boom of 'fumetti neri' or black comics, this series catered to a burgeoning market for adult-oriented horror and erotic thrillers. These pocket-sized volumes were designed for convenience and affordability, typical of the newsstand culture that defined the era's pulp publishing landscape.

The visual identity of the Oltretomba line was defined by its grim, illustrative covers and stark black-and-white interiors, often produced by anonymous or house-style artists working under strict deadlines for publisher Renzo Barbieri. Issue 65 reflects the characteristic mix of gothic tropes and suspenseful storytelling that made the series a staple of the Italian kiosk scene, serving as a modest example of the low-brow pulp aesthetic that later gained traction among international cult comic collectors.
