Preacher #66

Preacher #66, published in 2000, serves as the final installment of the landmark Vertigo series written by Garth Ennis and illustrated by Steve Dillon. Conceived as a gritty, revisionist take on the Western and supernatural genres, the series followed the journey of Jesse Custer, a preacher possessed by a powerful entity. The concluding issue was highly anticipated for its resolution of the complex, often violent character arcs that defined the title's multi-year run.

The aesthetic of this issue remains consistent with Dillon’s signature clean-line, expressive style, which became the visual shorthand for the series' visceral storytelling. Upon its release, the issue was received as a definitive end to the odyssey, praised by critics and long-term readers for staying true to the uncompromising, dark humor and philosophical inquiries established in the premiere issue. It solidified the series' status as a cornerstone of late-1990s and early-2000s creator-owned comics.
