Puella Magi Madoka Magica - Wraith Arc #1

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Wraith Arc, beginning with issue number one, was serialized in Manga Time Kirara Forward starting in 2015. It functions as a direct narrative bridge between the original television anime series and the film Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion. The story was written by the original series production team, Magica Quartet, and illustrated by Hanokage, who had previously adapted the main series into manga format.

The series was conceived to expand upon the transitional period for the magical girls following the cosmic rewrite enacted by Madoka Kaname. Hanokage's character designs maintain the established aesthetic of the franchise while adapting the atmospheric tension of the wraiths—new antagonists born from the despair of the altered reality. Upon release, the volume was received by fans as a significant piece of expanded lore that clarified the canonical status of the magical girls' ongoing struggles in the absence of traditional witches.
