Puella Magi Madoka Magica - Wraith Arc #2

Wraith Arc was serialized in Manga Time Kirara Forward beginning in 2015, serving as a canonical bridge between the events of the original television anime and the 2013 film, Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion. The narrative was written by the original series creators at Magica Quartet and illustrated by Hanokage, who previously adapted the main series into manga format. This installment functions to explain the transition of the magical girl system following Madoka Kaname's transformation into the Law of Cycles.

The artistic direction sought to maintain the high-contrast, surreal aesthetic established by Gekidan Inu Curry in the anime. Hanokage’s adaptation was received by the fanbase as a necessary effort to flesh out the complex lore of the Wraith period, which was largely skipped over in the animated timeline. Volume two, specifically, advances the tension among the remaining magical girls as they struggle to survive in a world where their enemies have fundamentally shifted.
