Roarin' Rick's Rare Bit Fiends #21

Roarin' Rick's Rare Bit Fiends was an experimental anthology comic series created, written, and illustrated by Rick Veitch. Launched in the mid-1990s through Veitch's own imprint, King Hell Press, the series was designed as a creative laboratory. Veitch utilized the publication to explore the surreal nature of dreams, drawing heavily from his own dream journals to craft complex, visually shifting narratives that defied the standard superhero tropes prevalent in the industry at the time.

Issue #21 serves as a late-period entry in this self-published odyssey, reflecting the series' commitment to personal, idiosyncratic storytelling. Critics of the time frequently praised the title for its artistic autonomy and Veitch’s ability to weave dream-logic into a coherent, albeit challenging, graphic medium. By providing a platform for unconventional page layouts and narrative structures, the series became a respected touchstone for independent comics creators looking to push the boundaries of the medium.
