Roarin' Rick's Rare Bit Fiends #2

Roarin' Rick's Rare Bit Fiends was an experimental anthology comic series created by Rick Veitch, launched in the mid-1990s as a showcase for his unique brand of surrealism and stream-of-consciousness storytelling. Emerging from the underground comix tradition, the series functioned as a personal sandbox where Veitch could explore recurring subconscious motifs, most notably his fascination with dreams and the 'rarebit fiend' trope originally popularized by Winsor McCay’s early 20th-century newspaper strips.

Issue #2 continued the series' focus on dream-journaling and narrative experimentation, featuring Veitch’s distinctively detailed and fluid illustrative style. The work was produced under his own King Hell Press imprint, granting him full creative autonomy to blur the lines between traditional sequential art and abstract psychic exploration. Critically, the series was regarded as a significant contribution to the alternative comics movement, praised for its technical ambition and its commitment to documenting the irrational, nocturnal logic of the human mind.
