Roarin' Rick's Rare Bit Fiends #19

Roarin' Rick's Rare Bit Fiends was an experimental anthology comic series created and self-published by Rick Veitch starting in the mid-1990s. The series served as a showcase for Veitch's stream-of-consciousness dream journaling, where he would illustrate his subconscious experiences immediately upon waking. This distinct creative process resulted in surreal, fluid narratives that challenged traditional comic book structures and pacing.

Issue 19 continues the series' established aesthetic of raw, unfiltered imagery and eclectic storytelling. Veitch designed these works to capture the ephemeral logic of dreams, often utilizing a shifting visual style that mirrored the chaotic nature of the unconscious mind. Within the independent comics scene of the era, the title was lauded by critics and fellow creators for its artistic courage and commitment to a deeply personal, avant-garde vision that eschewed mainstream commercial sensibilities.
