Secrets of Haunted House #39

Secrets of Haunted House was a long-running horror anthology series published by DC Comics during the 1970s and early 1980s, emerging as part of the publisher's push to capitalize on the enduring popularity of gothic suspense and supernatural storytelling. Issue number 39, released in the summer of 1981, fits squarely within the series' established format, which relied on rotating creative teams to deliver eerie, twist-ending tales narrated by a recurring host.

The issue features cover art and interior contributions typical of the period's house style, balancing traditional suspense tropes with the slightly campier sensibilities that defined DC’s horror titles at the time. While the series was never as iconic as its predecessors like House of Mystery or House of Secrets, it remains a notable example of Bronze Age comic book anthology craftsmanship, often appreciated today for the specific aesthetic shift in horror illustration occurring just before the industry moved toward more mature, darker storytelling themes.
