Secrets of Haunted House #42

Secrets of Haunted House was a long-running anthology series published by DC Comics during the late 1970s and early 1980s, a period when horror comics were enjoying a resurgence in popularity. Issue number 42, released in the early 1980s, fits into the publisher's strategy of utilizing recurring hosts—in this case, Abel, Cain, and Eve—to guide readers through self-contained tales of the supernatural, suspense, and the macabre.

The creative direction for this title relied heavily on a stable of talented illustrators and writers who emphasized mood and gothic atmosphere over overt gore, adhering to the standard industry practices of the era. These issues are often noted by collectors for their striking cover art and the collaborative spirit of the DC mystery line, serving as a nostalgic touchstone for fans of pre-modern comics who appreciate the transition from the classic horror tropes of the Silver Age toward the more experimental narratives that defined early 1980s genre fiction.
