Sergio Aragonés Groo the Wanderer #95

Groo the Wanderer issue 95 was published in 1993 during the long-running series' tenure at Image Comics. Created by legendary cartoonist Sergio Aragonés, the comic follows the misadventures of a dim-witted but formidable barbarian who often causes widespread chaos despite his good intentions. This era of the series continued the partnership between Aragonés and longtime collaborator Mark Evanier, who provided the scripts that complemented the pantomime-style storytelling for which Aragonés is world-renowned.

The design of the issue reflects the distinct aesthetic developed by Aragonés, characterized by his expressive, fluid ink lines and intricate background gags that reward attentive readers. As a staple of the independent comic scene in the 1990s, the series was celebrated for its consistent humor, satirical take on fantasy tropes, and its refusal to take the grit of the decade's comic trends too seriously. It remains a hallmark of high-quality gag-based storytelling in the medium.
