Supplément de Zorro #83

The Supplément de Zorro series was a long-running French pocket-sized publication produced by Éditions de la SEPP during the mid-20th century. Born from the immense popularity of the Zorro character in post-war France, these issues were designed as affordable, portable entertainment, often featuring Italian-drawn stories that leaned into the swashbuckling adventures of Don Diego de la Vega. The format was part of a wave of 'petit format' comics that became a staple of French newsstands, providing accessible escapism for a younger generation of readers.

The design of issue #83 reflects the aesthetic conventions of the era's pulp comics, prioritizing dynamic, high-contrast black-and-white illustrations that emphasized action and melodrama. While the specific artists for individual interior pages in this series were often uncredited due to the studio-based production models of the time, the covers were frequently crafted to evoke classic pulp cinema posters. The series was well-regarded for maintaining a consistent, reliable supply of serialized heroics, securing its place as a recognized entry in the wider catalog of European licensed adaptations of American pulp icons.
