The Fury of Firestorm #31

Published by DC Comics in January 1985, The Fury of Firestorm #31 arrived during a transitional period for the character. Created by Gerry Conway and Al Milgrom, the series explored the unique fusion of teenager Ronnie Raymond and physicist Martin Stein. This issue maintains the title's trademark blend of high-stakes superhero action and the personal drama associated with Raymond's adolescent life, reflecting the mid-80s editorial push to keep legacy characters grounded in relatable, often complicated, real-world social dynamics.

The cover and interior art from this era are characteristic of the house style refined during the Bronze Age of comic books, emphasizing dynamic character poses and readable, kinetic layouts. While Firestorm was often positioned as a second-tier character compared to DC's flagship icons, the creative team focused on the complex interplay between the two men sharing the Firestorm matrix. The title was well-regarded by fans of the era for its consistent character development and the science-fiction elements that distinguished it from traditional vigilante narratives.
