The Fury of Firestorm #33

Published in March 1985 by DC Comics, The Fury of Firestorm #33 arrived during a transformative period for the character. Created by Gerry Conway and Rafael Kayanan, the series sought to ground the nuclear-powered hero within the complex socio-political landscape of the mid-1980s. This specific issue is notable for its exploration of Firestorm's dual-identity struggles, highlighting the creative team's ongoing commitment to balancing high-concept science fiction elements with the personal, often turbulent, civilian lives of Ronnie Raymond and Professor Martin Stein.

The artistic direction of the series under Kayanan emphasized a dynamic, slightly gritty aesthetic that moved away from the more traditional Silver Age visual style. Critics of the era generally praised the title for its narrative ambition and the chemistry between the character's internal voices. By the time issue #33 hit newsstands, the book had established a dedicated following for its willingness to push the Firestorm mythos toward more mature, grounded emotional territory while maintaining the vibrant action sequences expected of DC’s superhero lineup.
