The Incredible Hulk #203

Published by Marvel Comics in September 1976, The Incredible Hulk issue #203 arrived during a period of transition for the title. Written by Len Wein and featuring the artwork of Sal Buscema, this issue continued the character's long-standing struggles with isolation and the military pursuit led by General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross. The narrative tone of the mid-1970s Hulk run was defined by a blend of high-stakes action and introspective drama, focusing heavily on Bruce Banner's desperate attempts to find a cure for his condition.

Sal Buscema's distinct, energetic pencils were a staple of the series throughout this era, providing a sense of physical weight and urgency to the Hulk's transformations. His collaboration with Wein helped solidify the visual language of the character, emphasizing the Hulk’s hulking anatomy and expressive facial features. The issue is regarded by collectors as a characteristic example of the Bronze Age of comic books, reflecting the editorial direction of the time which favored serialized, character-driven storytelling over the experimental narratives seen in some of Marvel's other contemporary titles.
